Abstract:
In this talk we give an overview of some semi-Lagrangian schemes that are applied to the numerical resolution of the Vlasov equation.
The latter equation models typically the time evolution of charged particles (ions, electrons) with self consistant electric field and external magnetic field; it is still quite challenging to solve due in particular to the high dimensionality (6D phase space), the different scales and the filamentation process.
