All-optical acoustic nanometrology: from phononiccrystals to a single nano-object
This talk will briefly address the potentiality of all-optical pump-probe techniques in accessing the relevant excitation dynamics in several condensed-matter systems. The talk will then focus on some aspects of nanoscale thermodynamic, specifically on Impulsively Excited Hypersonic PhononicCrystals. Among elastic metamaterials, Surface PhononicCrystals (SPCs), i.e. metamaterials obtained by periodically modulating the elastic properties at the surface of a solid substrate, play a key role in applications.
